Preschool Information
Texoma Christian School is excited to present our Early Childhood Program. Our program is accredited with the Association of Christian Schools International whose standards meet or exceed the state's minimum standards. As a result of this accreditation, we are exempt from licensing by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Service. The faculty and staff at TCS continue striving to improve the program through both on-going self monitoring, as well as continued monitoring and evaluation by ACSI. This enables us to ensure that we stay in compliance with accreditation policies and standards. Our preschool offers a variety of different classes from which to choose.
EARLY CHILDHOOD APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Preschool 3/4 -- Children must be 3 years old for PreK3 and four years old for PreK4 by September 1st of the year they are entering.
Gift Year -- Children must be 5 years old by September 1st and must have recommendation of TCS Gift Year Coordinator or Preschool Administrator.
Kindergarten -- Children must be 5 years old by September 1st and must have the recommendation of the TCS Testing Coordinator.

AGE ELIGIBILITY AND EXPECTATIONS
Placement is based on the child's age as of September 1 of the enrollment year. Your child must meet our age eligibility requirement for our classes – they must be 3 to enter the three year old class, and 4 to enter the four year old class by September 1.
They must be "potty" trained.
PRESCHOOL 3 & 4 THREE DAY A WEEK CLASS
For those parents who are interested in a little "break" each week, and would like to get a "jump start" on their child's academics, socialization, and interaction with other children, we offer special activity classes for both our three year olds and our four year olds.

PRESCHOOL 3 & 4 MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY CLASS
For those parents who are interested in a weekly program (Monday through Friday) we offer a Monday through Friday class that is a consistent, daily class each week. Music and Spanish are included.

GIFT YEAR (must be 5 by September 1)
The Gift Year class is a "gift of a year" providing the student the opportunity to grow socially and emotionally in an environment that is specially designed for the child not quite ready to sit in a chair long periods of time or to follow long series of directions. The work is predominantly "hands on." The curriculum focuses on letters as well as letter sounds, developing writing abilities through fine motor activities as well as tracing and writing practice. Math reviews the numbers 1-10 and one to one correspondence. Addition and beginning subtraction will be introduced. Class size is kept low, usually 12 to 14. Library, Spanish, and Music are included.

EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM
Our extended care is a program for those parents whose children need a full day care program. Their time in extended care will be less academic but still structured. We will have various activities for the kids to participate in, and a snack.
Times: Drop off as early as 7:30 am, pickup by 5:30 pm.
CURRICULUM and SCHEDULE
Each class will have 12 students, a full time teacher and a part time teacher's aid. I We offer a variety of age-appropriate lessons throughout our day, including hands-on activities based on traditional instructor-created curriculum supplemented with external resources such as Frog Street Press. Our preschool program revolves around themed units including seasons, holidays, God's world of exciting animals, children around the world, who God is and His love and plan for us. We emphasize letters, their sounds and introduce reading concepts. In addition, we teach number recognition, beginning math and begin studying the world around us through physical science, artwork, exploration, experiences, and experiments. Each preschool learns a monthly memory verse and participates in a Bible time including praying, singing and a Bible story. We offer healthy snacks and a recess time to encourage physical growth and development.
